Octodad Creators Announce Bugsnax for PlayStation 5

It might have gotten a bit lost amidst all the bigger reveals during Sony’s PlayStation 5 event, but the bright, colorful world of Bugsnax is definitely set to catch a few gamers’ eyes. Developed by Young Horse, best known for Octodad: Dadliest Catch, this brand new title will release Holiday 2020 for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

The first game’s reveal trailer didn’t show off much – although we did get the catchy theme “It’s Bugsnax!” performed by Kero Kero Bonito – but what we did see was absolutely adorable. The game takes place on an island inhabited by the newly discovered “Bugsnax” – adorable creatures which resemble a combination between animals and food. Guided by a friendly walrus-like character, the player will take on the role of a journalist investigating the mysterious new creatures.

Both your character and other inhabitants of the “island of Bugsnax” will be able to transform your bodies by taking on elements of the Bugsnax which you consume. Turn your hands into hot dogs, grow delicious strawberries from your body, and more as you learn all about the different types of Bugsnax that are out there! (Plus, it seems like you’ll also be helping the residents of the island with some of their problems, as the absent-minded Mayor somehow manages to set the entire town on fire in the trailer alone).

Bugsnax will take advantage of the haptic feedback capabilities of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. Players will be able to feel it when they walk across different types of terrain, use the adaptive triggers to set traps for the various Bugsnax, and listen to the creatures’ unique chirps via the 3D sound system. It’s truly an immersive, Bugsnax-filled world!

More information regarding this title will likely be announced as the release date draws nearer.
