Overwatch 2 Gets A Dating Simulator For Valentine’s Day

To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, Overwatch 2 will be releasing Loverwatch, a web-based dating simulator game set in the Overwatch universe. The site will be opened on Feb. 13, and allows players to date either Mercy or Genji. The player will be helped out by Cupid – in this case that’s Hanzo, because of course it is.

The Valentine’s Day update for Overwatch 2, titled Ultimate Valentine, runs from Feb. 14 to Feb. 28. The Ultimate Valentine event comes with a limited-time mode, with challenges that will test your skills with support heroes. Who could we ever love more than our supports? There will be two epic skins to unlock through Ultimate Valentine, and also a Cupid Hanzo bundle in the Shop. For more rewards, the Loverwatch dating sim will feature a secret ending that bags the player a new Play of the Game highlight intro, which could potentially be Hanzo blowing a kiss as seen in the official YouTube trailer for Season 3.

The earnable rewards and silly fun of Loverwatch seem to be part of Blizzard’s attempts to make Overwatch 2 more rewarding, in response to criticism from original Overwatch fans. Blizzard themselves describe the new events, as well as the reintroduction of earnable Overwatch Credits, as a push to “make Overwatch 2 a more rewarding game to play.” Season 3 of Overwatch 2, which begins today, aims to be the start of this change. We criticized the lack of rewards and progression in our tepid 5/10 Overwatch 2 review, so this is certainly a welcome change.

Will you be giving Loverwatch a try? Are you looking forward to Season 3 of Overwatch 2 which releases later today? Let us know in the comments below, and keep your eyes on GameLuster for more gaming news.
