Players Turn Off Crossplay in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta Due To Cheaters

As a result of cheaters within the Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta, console players are now switching off crossplay. As we’ve seen time and time again, cheating has become a far-reaching problem within Call Of Duty. As a direct result, Activision recently banned over 200,000 players across Modern Warfare & Warzone’s platforms. The beta for Black Ops Cold War went live earlier in the week across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with crossplay enabled.

Sure enough, cheaters were soon running rampant through the beta, ruining the experience for other players as a result. Redditor madzuk posted a short clip onto the Black Ops Cold War subreddit of a player using an aimbot to pick off targets with ease, describing it as the most “blatant and ridiculous aim hack” the Redditor had ever seen.

“Turning off cross play.” Redditor RoKeOps responded to the footage. “I rather wait long for a lobby than deal with those hacker assclowns who couldn’t cut in a real match without hacking.”

Another Redditor, 1mP3N, uploaded footage of a player employing a soft aimbot and wallhack, seen below.

[PC + SEA] One hour into the beta and I’ve already met a player with soft aimbot and wallhack. I hope Treyarch monitors anticheat closely this time.

Back in July, a Warzone cheater was uncovered in the middle of a stream by Youtuber TimTheTatman. The cheater used an aimbot to pick off targets parachuting into the map. Despite being openly caught on the live-stream, the cheater does not seem phased and continues to pick off targets with ease, courtesy of the aimbot. At one point in the match, streamers TimTheTatman and Cloakzy were killed by the same player. They later learned the player had been cheating up to six months, all the while remaining completely undetected.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is due for release on November 13, 2020. Black Ops Cold War is a direct sequel to 2010’s Black Ops, bridging the narrative gaps between the first and second games.
