Razer Announces One-Day “RazerCon” Event

Gaming hardware and laptop manufacturer Razer has announced they will be holding a one-day digital event, dubbed RazerCon, to promote recently released products, announce upcoming hardware releases, and give software partners an opportunity to make some post-Tokyo Games Show announcements they couldn’t quite squeeze in.

CEO Min-Liang Tan will be making a keynote address to start the show off, using mixed-reality technologies to put himself in front of the iconic Singapore skyline as he showcases Razer’s latest offerings. Other hardware manufacturers such as Intel, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Western Digital will also be making some announcements, presumably about upcoming offerings for the holiday season and the new year.  Meanwhile, developers like Romero Games and Capcom will be showing off upcoming titles and potentially making announcments about new titles in the pipeline.

Viewers with Razer Chroma RGB-equipped gear are encouraged to make sure their Razer gear is hooked up during the stream, as Razer is promising RazerCon will be the first RGB lighting-reactive livestream.  While this likely means mood lighting from Razer devices during cinematic teasers, it’s also going to be an element in the various concerts RazerCon has scheduled.  Razer is promising “top EDM artists” will be performing at various times during the event, as well as a performance by metal band Sabaton and Herman Li from the band Dragonforce.  Razer Chroma gear attached during the stream will be synchronized with the music.

Finally, before and during RazerCon, viewers can enter to win a number of contests and giveaways for chances to win various pieces of Razer gear, including a Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop. Other prizes from other hardware partners and in-game items or beta keys from various game developers and publishers are also up for grabs.

RazerCon is scheduled for October 10, with the CEO’s keynote address slated for 9AM PDT.
