A fanmade mod for Marvel’s Spider Man Remastered aims to bring back the Peter Parker face model from the original PlayStation 4 release to PC. The face mod, made by modder Daemon, restores the more mature face that many fans of the PS4 version prefer, based on facial actor John Bubniak. The announcement of the remaster for PS5 came with a new, younger face that some considered to be uncannily like the MCU’s Tom Holland.
The face isn’t a completely perfect replica yet. As Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered doesn’t contain the old model, it had to be recreated from scratch using data available in the PS4 game’s files combined with the remaster. There are still some things to iron out. For one, the hair of the replaced model clips through the top of the Spider-Man mask when Peter puts it on. The video below demonstrates the changed facial model in action, so big thanks to the uploader iVoltex for the footage, and Daemon for making the mod.
The facial model is still a work in progress, so some updates will be coming from the mod creator later. There are also already plans to bring the original face to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, should that make the jump to PC. It is expected to come eventually, as Sony is increasingly getting serious about the PC as a platform. We’ve already had the announcement for Uncharted on PC, and Returnal could be coming too.
Mod support is one of the most entertaining features of the Playstation PC ports, with fans coming up with new animations and cosmetics that are both cool and hilarious. For an example of this, just look at the Kermit the Frog mod. If you’d like to try this Peter Parker mod, the link to the Discord hosting it can be found in the description of the above video. The creator has not listed it publicly.
