Starfield Release Date Announced, Along With Standalone Direct

After missing its initial release date of Nov. 11 2022, Bethesda has announced that Starfield will release this year on Sept. 6. Before that, it will have its own dedicated direct showcase on June 11. In an announcement video on YouTube, Bethesda shared the news of the release date and details on what to expect from its upcoming direct.

“This June, we are going to bring you into the studio and give you a deep dive into the game [Starfield]” Todd Howard said in the announcement video. “There is so much we still have to show you.” The video is interspersed with short clips of the game being played in realtime. The UI in the footage seen is clean and minimal, as a variety of different places, potentially on different planets are seen being explored. You can even see some first-person combat going on in the background at 2:04. Check out the announcement video below for more.

Last January, Xbox confirmed that Bethesda’s newest space RPG would have a standalone showcase. Xbox is seemingly hyping up their fans months before the official release, given that Starfield has the potential to a huge push for Xbox Series X|S console sales.

Starfield is set to be an ambitious title from Bethesda, though the grand scope of the game is yet to be determined. However, executive producer Todd Howard has stated that the upcoming space odyssey will feature over 1,000 planets to explore. With that, we can finally say that Starfield is releasing Sept. 6 and will be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and PC. Players can also enjoy the game on Xbox Game Pass day one as part of their membership to the service.
