Team Cherry Announces Hollow Knight Sequel

A full-fledged Hollow Knight sequel is on the way.

Developer Team Cherry has announced a sequel for their hit title Hollow Knight, entitled Hollow Knight: Silksong. In Silksong, players will take control of Hornet, the princess-protector of Hollownest from the first game.

According to a blogpost from Team Cherry, Hornet has been kidnapped and brought to an unfamiliar land. Hornet will have to battle her way through foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.

According to the post, Hornet will have a new set of moves in Silksong, and she will be able to craft a number of tools, weapons, and mechanisms. Hornet will fight more than 150 new enemies on her adventure, which will include hunters, kings, and assassins. After completing the game, players will be able to try out the Silk Soul mode, which will provide them with a unique challenge. You can check out the trailer for Silksong below.

According to the developer, Silksong originally started out as DLC for the original Hollow Knight, but it evolved into something more than what was originally planned.

“Almost from the start, Hornet’s adventure was intended to take place in a new land, but as we dove in, it quickly became too large and too unique to stay a DLC, as initially planned,” Team Cherry said in the blog post. “We do know that makes the wait a little longer, but we think the final, fresh world you’ll get to explore is worth it.”

Team Cherry has also announced that everyone who backed the original title on Kickstarter in 2014 will receive Silksong for free on PC. Gamers have the option to choose the Nintendo Switch as their platform of choice if they backed for more than AU$10.

Hollow Knight: Silksong does not have a release date at the moment. The game will launch for PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux) and Nintendo Switch.
