The Last Of Us Remake Could Be Out Later This Year

According to an industry insider, The Last Of Us remake could be close to completion, and may soon launch later in the year. Insider Tom Henderson revealed in a Twitter post that the remake of Naughty Dog’s hit game “is nearly finished and could release during the latter half of 2022”, a claim sourced from “multiple people”.

Sources close to VGC further support the theory, which matches Henderson’s claims. In an additional post from Henderson, the insider alludes to the possibility of both a multiplayer and director’s cut of The Last Of Us Part II. “I’ve heard they are coming too – But I don’t know exactly when/how.” says Henderson.

Any news at this stage is merely speculative, Henderson reiterates, believing that the “overall goal here is to drum up hype for the HBO show, so we’ll see what happens – And to be honest, Q3/Q4 2022 for Sony looks a little lackluster at the moment. So we’ll see what happens!”

It’s no mystery that Naughty Dog are working on several new projects, after The Last Of Us creator, Neil Druckmann urged fans for patience in regards to new projects, teasing that they had “several cool things we can’t wait to share with you. As soon as we can, we will!”

In September 2021, Naughty Dog provided an update on a multiplayer mode for The Last Of Us, confirming that they were “working on it”.

“For now, we’ll say that we love what the team is developing and want to give them time to build out their ambitious project, we’ll reveal more when it’s ready!” they add.

Last year, Gameluster reported that Naughty Dog were pushing to hire at their studios in Santa Monica with a variety of positions available via their careers page. At present, the studio has a wealth of openings in their art departments, audio, game design, production, and technical art.
