The Witcher 3 Will Be Sold On A Single 32GB Switch Cartridge

CD Projekt RED has done it again, now that they’ve brought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to the Switch. As impressive as that feat is for the team, what is even more inspiring is that it will include the base game, as well as the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, all fit on a single 32GB cartridge. You will be able to pop the game into your Switch and start playing without having to download anything on June 11, 2019.

Nintendo has never fully released what it exactly costs to use a 32GB cartridge, but it is believed that the cost is about $20 to $25 for each cartridge. This may lead to a lower profit margin, and some companies opt to have the user just download any remaining content that did not fit on an 8GB or 16GB cartridge. In fact, only two titles prior have used a 32GB cart—the Japanese releases of both Dragon Quest Heroes I & II and Final Fantasy X/Final Fantasy X-2 HD. While the Switch is not region-locked, this marks the first time that a 32GB cartridge will be able to purchase outside of Japan and SEA regions.
