The sneak peek at The Witcher 4 we had earlier this year had us very excited, but it seems we need to temper that excitement, as we still have a long way to go until we’ll get the game on our hands. It appears with the information coming from CD Projekt’s latest earnings presentation, the earliest we’ll have our hands on The Witcher 4 is 2027.
Despite specifying that “we are not going to announce the precise launch date […] yet” for the next Witcher game set to be led by Ciri, chief financial officer of CD Projekt, Piotr Nielubowicz, did say “all we could share now […] is that the game will not be launched within the time frame […] which ends December 31, 2026”. For The Witcher fans, it’s hard to accept the game is so far away, but there’s really no room for interpretation there. The comments come in response to discussing financial goals over the next two years, clarifying that these will not be influenced by The Witcher 4 as it won’t be out yet.
We do know the game is in full production, and it is promising that we’ve already seen the game in action with a first look at Ciri’s new character model in a dramatic CGI trailer. Games like CD Projekt Red’s other giant RPG outings like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 always take a long time to develop, so it’s not a surprise we’ll be waiting – just the disappointing reality!
