Today, Grand Theft Auto V Turns Ten Years Old

Grand Theft Auto V generated around $800 million in global sales within its first 24 hours on sale to the public. For day one, the title shipped 11.21 million copies, and after three days, surpassed the $1 billion mark. The launch week for GTA V was 2.4 times greater than GTA IV.

We could go on, but you get the idea. GTA V is, by and large, one of the most revered, respected, and distinguished showpieces in video game history. From a commercial and critical standpoint, the legacy of GTA V speaks for itself, and it all started on a Tuesday ten years ago.

The date was September 17, 2013. Wind the clock along by a decade, and the title is now available across multiple platforms, including the PlayStation 3, 4, and 5, Xbox 360, One and Series generations, and PC. As GameLuster reported on August 10, 2023, GTA V had sold more than 185 million copies worldwide

The GTA community were today invited by Rockstar to partake in the tenth-anniversary celebrations via GTA Online. In a news post from the studio, the developers commended the community for the part they’ve played. “As Grand Theft Auto V turns 10 this coming Sunday, we would like to thank you, our players, for your incredible support over the years,” their statement reads.

Rockstar praised an “amazing community” as “the reason GTAV has thrived across multiple console generations and given us the opportunity to grow and update GTA Online with new features and content over these past 10 years, and your support is truly humbling.”

“A massive thank you to anyone who has ever played, streamed, roleplayed, created, or shared from the world of Los Santos and Blaine County!” Rockstar signed off.

GTA V-themed collectibles, such as classic character outfits, exclusive vehicles, contact missions, jobs, discounts, and more are all available as part of the celebrations.

Now, we wait for news on GTA 6. We could be here a while.
