Ubisoft Shows Off Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at E3 Conference

As everyone was expecting, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was shown at Ubisoft’s E3 2018 conference today and it’s going to be huge.

Just as expected, players will get to taste Ubisoft’s vision of Ancient Greece in their new Assassin’s addition. It seems that previous leaks (i.e. keychains) were correct.

In a leap from previous entries, players will now be able to choose between two protagonists, Alexios or Kassandra. Ubisoft has assured gamers that your choice of the two will not affect gameplay. Both “share the bloodline of a legendary Spartan hero,” according to Ubisoft.

Bringing back the modern-day element, Layla Hassan, a character introduced in Origins, will return. Her return is illustrated by gameplay director Scott Phillips as “important to the overall story” and that “you do have a couple of gameplay sequences with her.” However, it will be interesting to see if Layla can keep the attention of fans, as most are still pretty sore from the departure of Desmond in Assassin’s Creed III.

Although the teaser didn’t mention it much, ships will return in Odyssey. Hearkening back to its predecessor, Origins, the map will reportedly feature a large sum of regions. It is supposed that ships will be the biggest transportation device for travel within this huge map.

Gods and myths, as Ubisoft puts them, will also be present in the game. Phillips adds “how they fit into everything and how we use Assassin’s Creed and Greek mythology and mix those two is not something we can talk about yet.” In any case, the reveal has fans of the series on the edge of their seats.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has a slated release date for October 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
