The former PlayStation exclusive Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection released on Steam this Wednesday, and the initial concurrent player count is lacking. Whilst the game does have a ‘Very Positive’ score on Steam, the concurrent player count for the release of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was the lowest ever for a PlayStation title on PC.
This news was first noticed by user Ryuichi Naruhodo on Install Base, so thanks to them for sharing this. SteamDB tracks daily peak concurrent player counts on Steam, and allows us to make some accurate comparisons to the launch of other PlayStation Studios titles.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection debuted with just 7,973 peak concurrent players on release day. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered had a release day concurrent player peak of 60,210, almost eight times higher than Uncharted.
The full list of major PlayStation releases and their release day concurrent player peak is as follows:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered – 60,210 players
- Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition – 56,557 players
- God of War – 49,411 players
- Days Gone – 18,287 players
- Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection – 7,973 players
The reason for this low debut has a lot of speculation around it. Whilst Uncharted may be a less popular property than Spider-Man, it has had a longer history than either Horizon or Days Gone. Although Uncharted did launch early in the week on a Wednesday, its Thursday player count only rose to a peak of 9,460.
The Legacy of Thieves Collection is made up of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and the standalone expansion Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The first three entries of the Uncharted series are not available on Steam, which could perhaps result in players waiting before playing the last game in the series, and the conclusion of Nathan Drake’s story.

Lazy journalism, I’ll do it for you. It’s because:
• Fourth game in a story focused series + a spinoff, no offical release of the first three titles
• $50 when both games are over five years old.
• Released in a super crowded season, smushed between two much more anticipated Spider-Man games
• Almost no marketing of any kind, barely any offical posts from Playstation or Naughty Dog
It’s a crowded season, an expensive package, an old game, a longstanding franchise without a PC history, a ‘surprise’ release (relatively little fanfare)… Plenty of reasons why people aren’t that bothered I think.
I loved UC4, but that obviously means I’ve already played it on PS4.
The only reason I won’t be playing it is that they didn’t release the first three. I’ve no interest in jumping in the middle of a story I know nothing about.
I already own the entire collection for PS4 and the Legacy collection for PS5. I have been waiting since day 1 to get a PC port on this franchise. It only makes sense to release the final chapters as they have the best graphics. Sure, the first 3 are classics, but it would take a lot of time and effort to re-egineer these games from the PS2&3 Era. I still hope Iron Galaxy are working on it…perhaps someday.
