Watch Dogs: Legion Online Mode Delayed On PC

The online mode for Watch Dogs: Legion on PC has been delayed indefinitely. According to an official statement from Ubisoft, the studio has “identified an issue in the PC version that can cause the game to crash for players with certain GPUS.”

Ubisoft are sourcing a fix for the problem. Collectively, the studio has decided to postpone the launch until the issue is rectified. As for a release date, Ubisoft “will communicate the new launch date as soon as possible.”

However, Ubisoft announced that Watch Dogs: Legion’s online mode would be available “on Xbox, PlayStation, and Stadia on March 23”, explaining that the team had “identified an issue that can cause the game to crash during the tactical op”.

Ubisoft go on to say it remains “committed to delivering the best experience to all players”, while thanking players for their continued patience. Ubisoft is further working on a fix for limited in-game text chat on PS4 and PS5, due for March 23.

This isn’t the first delay this project has faced. Shortly after launch, Ubisoft first announced that they’d be delaying the online mode into “early 2021.” This would provide Ubisoft with time to “focus on fixing issues with single player, and it will give us more time to test the online experience to help ensure a smooth launch of the mode.”

There are four respective modes within Watch Dogs: Legion’s online mode, including an open-world co-op (up to four players), tactical ops (four players), Spiderbot Arena (PvP deathmatch with up to eight players), and Invasion Mode (adapted from the original Watch Dogs).

Watch Dogs: Legion is available across the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, PC, and Stadia. For more from Watch Dogs: Legion, check out GameLuster’s video review of the Ubisoft sequel, as Luke Gould drops into London to see what’s what.
