We Probably Know Who The Next Dead By Daylight Killers Are

If you’re a horror fan, you probably know all about Dead by Daylight. The asynchronous multiplayer game pits four survivors against one killer, tasked with repairing generators to escape the map before the killer catches all other players. What makes Dead by Daylight so special is its expansive roster of killers, from original creations like the Dredge and the Clown, to licenced horror icons like Ghostface and Michael Myers. Fans of the game are always looking forward to seeing which killer joins the roster next, and thanks to a seemingly reliable leaker, we may just know who it is. Keep in mind that all the following information is not guaranteed, regardless of reliability!

First, before we get our hopes up, we have to check the leaker’s track record. A few months ago, a leaker known as Gumpy887 began posting leaks in the YouTube comments section of random Dead by Daylight related videos. As you’d expect, most were sceptical of a random account making wild claims about the future of the game – yet so far, they’ve turned out to be true. In his original comment, Gumpy claimed Chucky would be the next killer in Dead by Daylight. It turns out that’s exactly what happened, as Chucky joined the game in November of 2023.

Gumpy’s first accurate prediction was the addition of Chucky, but it wouldn’t be his last.

The next claim Gumpy made became more specific, as he said Alan Wake would join the game in the halfway point of seasons 30-31, with Alan Wake 2 character Saga Anderson appearing as a legendary skin. Again, this happened in January of this year, complete with legendary Saga skin. At this point, it was pretty clear that Gumpy was on to something, but with both of these being licensed properties, perhaps it was just a lucky guess.

But then Gumpy got everything right about the latest chapter too. Gumpy predicted in his original leak that the original killer would be similar to Legion, an existing character that is made up of several other characters that the player can change into. Gumpy went even further in a separate comment to suggest that the new map would be a town map, with a goth girl survivor included in the chapter. All of this became true, as the Unknown is a new killer with alternate skins that put the abomination into the bodies of other victims, and he’s joined by Sable, a goth girl that made her way into the Dead by Daylight world in Greenville Square – which is a town map included in the new chapter.

With every other prediction being right, we now turn to what Gumpy’s leaks say about the future of Dead by Daylight. In the very same initial leak comment that predicted everything above accurately, Gumpy said the next killer would be Vecna from Dungeons & Dragons, followed by Dracula from Castlevania. These two characters would be major additions to the game if this is true, and given Gumpy’s record, it seems we may just be in for that treat.

Vecna: Eve of Ruin will be released just a few weeks before a key date in Dead by Daylight’s year.

It’s of course still too early to tell if these leaks will be correct, but the Vecna one in specific seems to line up awfully well with both Dead by Daylight and Dungeons & Dragons plans for the year. Dead by Daylight celebrates its anniversary in June, and for the last six years has released a killer to coincide with the anniversary month. As it happens, 2024 is also the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, and they are releasing a new Vecna-based adventure book in late May, just a few weeks before the expected release date of the next Dead by Daylight killer.

Whilst it’s far from certain, the timings line up very well for a Dungeons & Dragons character to arrive in Dead by Daylight, and what better character than Vecna, whose popularity exploded with Stranger Things. Some fans have been disappointed by the fact it’s potentially not the Stranger Things iteration of the character coming to the game, but after developers Behaviour Interactive managed to shock fans with their renewal of their formerly expired licence of the first Stranger Things DLC pack, we wouldn’t put it past them to have found a way to perhaps start a new deal, and shift this Vecna DLC into being Stranger Things branded.

Dracula would represent a key part of horror history, as seen here in his appearance from Netflix’s Castlevania series.

Dracula from Castlevania is much more difficult to try and corroborate any information on how likely that is other than Gumpy’s other accurate predictions. There are no specific dates or events lining up, other than Dead by Daylight always releases a new killer in the last quarter of the year, and the original Castlevania game released in late September of 1986. A vampire does seem like a great idea for a killer, as they’re a staple of horror history that have no representation in the game at present. The potential such a crossover with Castlevania could bring is a very exciting one for fans of the series (like myself), but it seems too far to tell at present.

That’s who we’re expecting to see next in Dead by Daylight based on the leaks so far! We hope we broke down the leaks and their possibilities in a thorough manner – and now it’s over to you.
