Famitsu: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tops Charts Still After 7 Years

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers April 15 – 21, as almost seven years since its launch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has returned to the top spot on the Famitsu sales charts. This is an impressive feat for Nintendo, who are no stranger to ruling physical game sales in Japan, but a poor sign of the performance of recent titles.

The entire top three is ruled by the legendary plumber and his companions, as Mario Kart 8 DeluxePrincess Peach: Showtime! and Super Mario Bros. Wonder take the first three spots respectively. There was at least one new debut this week, as Ark: Survival Ascended managed to grab #9 with its PS5 release. It joins Rise of the Ronin as the only two PS5 games cracking the top 10 this week.
