We’re officially entering the launch week of Battlefield 6, and we’re all expecting the game to be massive. After the record-breaking Open Beta period was joined by millions around the world, and completely crushed Call of Duty‘s own concurrent player record, it seems the hype for Battlefield 6 is reaching boiling point. Despite not even being out yet, Battlefield 6 has been the top selling game globally for days now over on Steam.
Battlefield 6 has been charting on Steam’s top seller chart for a while, as you’d expect from any anticipated game that’s rolling in the pre-orders. However, its total revenue has grown exponentially over the last week, making it rise from #15 to #1 just days before the launch. Its position is determined by game revenue, meaning Battlefield 6 is earning more money than the major microtransaction-heavy titles like Counter-Strike 2 or EA Sports FC 26.

This is a big accomplishment for the series that was formerly starting to struggle with its most recent entries. Fans and critics alike were divided on Battlefield 2042 when it released back in 2021, but Battlefield 6 sees EA heading back to the drawing board with what works in the franchise, to much fanfare from its fanbase and those who feel exiled from the current state of Call of Duty.
We’re sure that Battlefield 6 is selling on its own merits, but we wouldn’t be surprised if some of its revenue is also coming from spite-based purchases of those who are unimpressed by the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which many have been vocal about on social media. Battlefield is doing things very differently than its rival franchise this year, and the risk looks like it’s about to pay off big time.
