The newest update to Disney Dreamlight Valley finally addresses one of the game’s central mysteries: what happened to the sinister “Forgotten,” and how did their actions lead to Dreamlight Valley becoming infected with dark magic? The first step in restoring Dreamlight Valley to its former glory is to journey into The Forgotten’s very memories, alongside Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, to learn about their tragic past. This guide will help you complete every part of this quest and get one step closer to freeing Dreamlight Valley from The Forgetting at last!
Complete The Fairy Godmother’s Enchantment
If you have completed all previous main story quests and unlocked the Forgotten Lands biome, this quest will trigger the next time you log in to Dreamlight Valley. Head to the Pumpkin House in the Forgotten Lands, which is now unlocked after previously standing empty. Inside you will find the Fairy Godmother, who is working on an enchantment to view The Forgotten’s memories.
To complete her enchantment, the Godmother needs five Purified Night Shards. A Purified Night Shard is made by visiting a Crafting Station and combining one Night Shard with five Dream Shards. So, you will need five Night Shards and 25 Dream Shards to complete this quest.
Night Shards can be found by digging up sparkling ground using your Royal Shovel. You can also use a Crafting Station and break down one Onyx (found via mining) into three Night Shards.
Dream Shards can be found by clearing Night Thorns in any biome of the Valley, digging up sparkling ground using your Royal Shovel, or feeding any Critter their favorite food.
Once you have crafted the five Purified Night Shards, bring them to the Fairy Godmother in her house. She will then cause a Tree House to appear in the center of the Forgotten Lands. Enter the Tree House to make your way to the Forgotten’s Dreamscape. It is recommended that you bring some food with you, as you will have to complete several tasks in the Dreamscape and there is no way to naturally restore energy inside!
Witness The Forgotten’s Memories
Once inside the Dreamscape, pick up the three glowing Memory Orbs sitting on the pedestals. Unfortunately, that is not enough to complete the Forgotten’s memory, so the Fairy Godmother will send you inside three memories yourself to learn more about the Forgotten. Each memory requires a series of tasks to unlock, and they must be completed in order.
Forgotten Memory Of Friendship
Enter the portal to find that you are in the Peaceful Meadow and that you have now taken on the role of The Forgotten. Talk to Mickey Mouse, who will ask you to find a bouquet of flowers for Minnie. Unfortunately, as the Forgotten, you are not able to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings, so all you can find are Ugly Flowers.
Explore the Peaceful Meadow for five glowing spots on the ground, and pick up an Ugly Flower at each one. Then, visit the Crafting Station next to Goofy’s House to combine the flowers into a Hideous Bouquet.
Give Minnie the bouquet, then return to Mickey to report her reaction. Any dialogue choices during this section do NOT affect the outcome of this quest, as you are taken over by the Forgotten and can ONLY choose negative reactions.
Next, find Goofy by the fishing pond. Goofy will give you a Shrimp and ask you for the remaining ingredients to make a Bouillabaisse. The ingredients are found in the following locations:
- One Rotten Clam on the shore of each of the two small ponds (NOT the pond Goofy is standing next to)
- The Rotten Carrot behind Goofy’s House
- The Rotten Tomato between two barrels next to a streetlamp
Return to the campfire next to Goofy and combine the Shrimp, two Rotten Clams, Rotten Carrot, and Rotten Tomato to make a Nasty Bouillabaisse. Give the soup to Goofy and observe his reaction.
Finally, speak to Minnie one last time. (She will be standing near the Pillar of Friendship.) After this conversation, you will unlock the Memory of Friendship. Return to the main Dreamscape area through the portal and talk to the Fairy Godmother to unlock the next Memory.
Forgotten Memory Of Trust
This time, you will find yourself in the Glade of Trust. Visit Mother Gothel near her home and then follow her to the Pillar of Trust. She will suggest that you rip the Orb of Trust out of its pillar. This is definitely a bad idea – but, unfortunately, you cannot refuse. Interact with the Pillar one more time to remove the Orb, and then show it to the villainous Gothel.
Next, Mother Gothel will ask you to find her Jewel-Encrusted Mirror, which she remembers dropping in the water. There are several gold bubbles around the Glade, but only one will hold the Jewel-Encrusted Mirror when fished up. However, the other items are random junk that will leave your inventory after this quest, so you should go directly to the Mirror. It can be found in the pool with the waterfall on the western side of the Glade.
Once you fish up the Mirror, you will learn that it was in fact nothing but junk. Return to Gothel one last time to confront her. This will unlock the Memory of Trust. Pick up the orb and return to the Dreamscape’s central area. The Fairy Godmother will create one last portal for you, and you must enter it to unlock the last Forgotten Memory.
Forgotten Memory Of Nurturing
Enter the portal and emerge in the Sunlit Plateau. Find Scar and talk to him to start this quest. He will ask you to crush flowers around the Plateau to weaken its energy. There are eight of these flowers, and they can be recognized by their bright orange color. The “crush” prompt will appear simply by interacting with them – you do not need to do anything special.
Once you’ve crushed the flowers, return to Scar. He is still not satisfied, and will give you 15 Night Thorn Seeds to plant around the Plateau. Each seed must be planted and tended to fully – dig a hole in the ground with your Royal Shovel, plant the seed, then water it with your Royal Watering Can.
Plant the seeds in the available patches of bare dirt in the following locations:
- Five by the Pillar of Nurturing
- Five near the waterfall / entrance to the Vitalys Mines
- Five near the giant Dreamlight Tree on the other side of the bridge from where you start
Once all fifteen seeds are planted and watered, return to Scar once more. (He will have moved – he is no longer standing by the Pillar, but is instead near his cave in the Elephant Graveyard) This time, when he prompts you to remove the Orb from its Pillar, you will be able to do so. This will allow you to collect the final Memory Orb you need.
However, before you can return to the Fairy Godmother, Merlin will appear and want to talk to you. Interact with him – again, your dialogue choices do not matter during this conversation – and then return to the Fairy Godmother one last time.
Return To The Orb Of Remembrance
With all Memories collected, you will be able to view a cut scene exploring the Forgotten’s origins. Just as you’re about to confront the Forgotten and restore the Orb of Remembrance to the Forgotten Lands…the Forgotten steals the Orb and runs away. So the story isn’t over just yet – you will have to find a way to follow and catch them, but you cannot do it immediately. For now, head back to the Valley!
After this scene, you can talk to the Fairy Godmother one last time and leave the Dreamscape. This will complete the Story Quest and unlock the Fairy Godmother as a character who you can bond and interact with in Disney Dreamlight Valley. You will want to do this, as raising the Fairy Godmother’s Bond Level is necessary to unlock further Story Quests involving stopping the Forgotten and restoring the Orb. Make sure to talk with her, give her gifts, and hang out with her every day!
