Far Cry 6 Teaser Reveals the Game’s Villain After Trailer Leak

Earlier in the week, Ubisoft’s worst nightmare came true as a number of key details from the upcoming Far Cry 6 were leaked via the Hong Kong PSN Store. Now, to make matters worse, a full trailer was leaked online (via GameSpot), with a link via Streamable now taken down, due to a copyright claim from the owner.

With the studio looking to salvage some control of these issues, they’ve now revealed a short teaser trailer for Far Cry 6.

The teaser shows the game’s central villain, Anton Castillo, lighting and smoking a cigar. Giancarlo Esposito, best known as drug kingpin Gustavo Fring in Breaking Bad and it’s spinoff Better Call Saul, provided the motion capture performance for Far Cry 6’s villain, who along with his fictional son, Diego, rule the tropical paradise of Yara.

The clip is captioned on Twitter with: “Anton would not be pleased. See you on Sunday at #Ubiforward.” Undoubtedly, despite the short runtime of the teaser, for those familiar with his performance as Gus Fring, Esposito is likely a solid choice for a ruthless antagonist.

The recent leak via Hong Kong’s PlayStation Store revealed the cover art, synopsis, and setting, as well as a release date. The Hong Kong PS Store page for Far Cry 6 was shared by Twitter user anjohn0422. The same page has been shared in a thread on Resetera, translated into English.

Far Cry 6, as the leak suggests, will further support Smart Delivery from the PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5. A free upgrade is available with the PS4 digital game for “Polar Cry 6”, the PS5 digital game.

This Sunday, Ubisoft will be hosting their Ubisoft Forward event. Games including Assassin’s Creed ValhallaHyper Scape, and Watch Dogs: Legion will be among the titles showcased, as well as “a few other surprises.”

Plus, Ubisoft will be giving away Watch Dogs 2 completely free. To grab a copy, all players will need to do is sign into their Ubisoft account on July 12 (the day of the showcase), and it will be theirs to download and keep.

Ubisoft Forward begins July 12, at 11 am PDT / 7 pm BST.
