Final Fantasy VII Remake Copies to Ship Early to Europe, Australia

Recently, developer Square Enix announced that they had “no control” over the release date of their highly anticipated upcoming title, Final Fantasy VII Remake. Today, Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura, the project’s producer and director respectively, took to Twitter to make a statement of their own.

Posted on the official Final Fantasy VII Remake twitter, the announcement reaffirms the team’s commitment to placing copies of the game in customers’ hands on the previously announced release date of April 10. Kitase and Nomura acknowledged the current disruption to worldwide shipping channels as a result of the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In the face of this unusual situation, they will take action.

“Our highest priority is that all of you, including those who live in countries currently facing the biggest disruption, can play the game at launch,” the statement reads, “so we have made the decision to ship the game earlier than usual to Europe and Australia.”

Regarding other Western countries and regions, including the United States of America, the developers remain optimistic that copies of the game will arrive in time for the official launch date, despite the “challenging situation.”

The statement did not include any information regarding Japan, the game’s country of origin, or any other regions in Asia.

The tweet also acknowledged the fact that this decision means that some fans will receive their copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake earlier than April 10. Nomura and Kitase asked these fans to please refrain from posting any spoilers on the Internet until after the official release date.

Unfortunately, this warning may come too late, as several posters on sites including the remake’s official Reddit community have already broken the game’s street date by sharing screenshots, soundtrack files, and pictures of the Deluxe Edition’s packaging. However, moderators of these communities have worked to remove such posts as quickly as possible.

Have you pre-ordered Final Fantasy VII Remake? Will your copy be arriving early? Let us know—but no spoilers!
