The next season of Fortnite Festival starts tomorrow, and it will be the tenth season of the music-based game mode since it started back in December 2023. With Gorillaz appearing as the headlining artist from August 26, the already expansive lineup of Fortnite Festival headliners is set to get one virtual band bigger. Interestingly though, tucked away at the bottom of today’s Fortnite update post is a sneaky little detail about the next season of Fortnite Festival – it won’t have a headlining artist.
In their own words, to mark the occasion of crossing ten seasons of Fortnite Festival, the Season 11 Music Pass will put “a special focus on Fortnite-original rewards”. To put that into other words, as also reported by noted Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey, there won’t be a headliner in the next Music Pass, and it will instead be a Fortnite-original season.

We’ve never had an original season of Fortnite Festival, with the entire line-up being star-studded from day one. What this means for the future of the game mode is an interesting prospect, with plenty of Fortnite Festival fans concerned on social media. Whilst the game mode initially exploded with 847,000 players within its launch period, it has been on a steady decline over the last two years. The most recent Bruno Mars-led season failed to cross 24,000 concurrent active players, which is less even than some fan-made creative modes.
