Get Pac-Man: Championship Edition 2 Free Until May 10

Publisher Bandai Namco have announced via their official Twitter that gamers can pick up Pac-Man: Championship Edition 2 for free between today and May 10. And that’s for keeps – the game will remain in your library even after the end of the free period! The game is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam). Links to the free download are provided in the company’s Tweet.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 was initially released in 2016 as a sequel to Pac-Man Championship Edition and Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. It turns the usually cowardly Pac-Man into a badass ghost hunter, as he gives up his usual “run away while devouring dots” gameplay in favor of hunting down and defeating the ghosts himself. Players can choose between Score Attack, in which they must reach a certain score within a time limit, and Adventure, where Pac-Man can face down challenging levels and dangerous giant-sized bosses.

Pac-Man’s free release is Namco’s contribution to the “stay at home, play at home” movement, in which game publishers and developers are giving away free titles in order to encourage gamers to remain at home in order to prevent the spread of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The company explained that they chose a Pac-Man game because they consider the beloved character to be the “goodwill ambassador” of Bandai Namco.

This is far from the only free game you can pick up during these difficult times. The Epic Games store is giving away free titles weekly, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently experiencing a free weekend. In addition, a number of new games have been added to Twitch Prime Xbox Game Pass for both PC and Console.

Are you planning on picking up your free copy of Pac-Man: Championship Edition 2? Feel free to tell us all about your exciting adventures with everyone’s favorite round yellow goodwill ambassador!
