God Of War Ragnarök Becomes Highest Rated First-Party PS5 Game

The hype for God of War Ragnarök is big, as expected from the sequel to 2018’s critically acclaimed God of War. It seems the hype might not be entirely unfounded though, as Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarök has become the highest rated first-party PlayStation 5 game on Metacritic. There is only one other game on the PS5 with a higher score, and that’s the multi-platform Elden Ring with an impressive 96 point score.

God of War Ragnarök on PS5 is currently holding a comfortable 94, the exact same score as the last game in the series God of War. Despite being a cross-gen release, God of War Ragnarök is comfortably above many PS5 exclusive titles like Demon Souls at 92, as well as The Last of Us Part I and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart tied with 88. This is a promising sign as we get closer to the Nov. 9 release of God of War Ragnarök.

With such a big release, Sony is going to need platforms available for people to buy it. The PS5 is getting some big restocks, with a 400% year-on-year increase in PS5 shipments to the USA. Sony is so focused on selling hardware with the release of God of War Ragnarök that the game even has an exclusive cool blue DualSense PS5 controller coming soon.
