Hi-Fi Rush’s Producer Has Started A New Gaming Studio

When it comes to developers, most gamers should be familiar with the name Shinji Mikami, who made a name for themselves working on games such as the Resident Evil series as a director and more recently as the Producer of Hi-Fi Rush. However, despite leaving Tango Gameworks back in February, this isn’t the last we’ll see of Mikami as he has started his own studio, Kamuy Inc.

We first learned of this new studio through the official website for the upcoming Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, which showed a picture of Mikami, as well as a brief bio about him and his previous work. However, towards the end of the bio we see the sentence; “After leaving Tango Gameworks, he established KAMUY Inc.” which confirms the new studio.

It would only make sense that Tango Gameworks wouldn’t be Mikami’s last venture into the gaming world, especially when you consider the rather impressive list of game’s he’s worked on. Mikami also teased that he would be hopping back into game development on his Twitter account around October 2023. While we do have confirmation about Kamuy Inc. we have yet to hear Mikami make an official announcement on the studio and what projects they have in the works.

As mentioned earlier, Mikami has made a rather impressive name for himself, not only for starting Tango Gameworks in 2010 but for all the projects he’s worked on. Mikami has worked as a director for several well-known titles such as Dino Crisis, several Resident Evil titles, Devil May Cry and was even producer for the Evil Within games. With a new studio on the rise, we cannot wait to see what Mikami has in store for gamers.
