Insomniac Writer Accidentally Confirms Spider-Man 2 Release Date, Deletes It

Jamie Mayer, a writer working on the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine from Insomniac Games listed on her personal website that she was currently working on these games. Accidentally however, she also shared that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was slated for “release fall 2023”. She quickly rewrote the section to remove the “fall” segment, however a number of people online saw and screen capped the slip up, like user Evan Filarca, who posted them to Twitter almost immediately.

Numerous people are taking the addition and subsequent quick removal to Jamie’s website as confirmation that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be coming out this upcoming fall. Others suspect that the “accidental slip up” was anything but accidental. It’s also interesting how this whoopsie has occurred shortly after the PlayStation Store page for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 added a wishlisting option by mistake, which was also quickly rectified.

This series of slip ups sure is coincidental given that today will see the release of the hotly anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie trailer, also from a Sony-owned studio. The excitement for both the film and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is huge, and Sony’s holding all the cards at the moment. When exactly we’ll see more isn’t clear yet, but this bizarre series of events suggests it may be sooner rather than later. Whenever it comes, we’ll be sure to report on it.

Now we ask you: What do you think? Does this confirm the release date for you, or was this a genuine error? Do we need more pictures of Spider-Man, and how much on a scale of fervently to absolutely do you agree this game should be retitled “Spiders-Men?” Let us know in the comments below, and keep your eyes on GameLuster for more breaking gaming news.
