Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom: How To Get Ancient Blade

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Ancient Arrow is one of the most overpowered weapons that can decimate many enemies. Although this powerful item actually makes a return in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, (renamed to Ancient Blade) many players may never know of its existence due to its hidden location. If you want to know how to obtain the Ancient Blade, this guide will tell you both how to get it for free and where to purchase it!

Free Ancient Blade Location In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

You can obtain an Ancient Blade for free from a chest inside the Highland Stable Well in Faron Grassland. It will be located on the north side of the structure near a group of traveling musicians.

Once you jump in, your path will be blocked by a breakable wall that you can destroy using Yunobo’s Sage of Fire power or a Bomb Flower. In the next chamber, you must face two Shock Likes and Bokoblins that infest the cave.

After you defeat them, you can continue to walk until you discover a chest in front of several boxes at a dead end. Inside it, you will find the rare and powerful Ancient Blade.

Where To Purchase Ancient Blades In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Spirit Temple Location

The most reliable way to obtain an Ancient Blade is by visiting the Smithing Construct in the Spirit Temple located in the Depths. However, you must help the Spirit Sage, Mineru, and defeat the Seized Construct before you can access the Ancient Blade shop.

After you’ve cleared the Spirit Temple, you will find two Smithing Constructs standing on each side of Mineru. The left will let you purchase various Zonaite weapons, while the right will exclusively sell Ancient Blades.

The Smithing Construct will give you an Ancient Blade for free the first time you speak to it. Unfortunately, this is only a one-time bonus, and you must spend 50 Zonaite ores each to get more.

Since this material is very expensive, the easiest way to get more Ancient Blades is by using item duplication glitches. Sadly, Nintendo doesn’t like players cheating, and the most popular methods are no longer working on version 1.1.2. On the other hand, if you haven’t updated the game, you should still be able to use the Bow and Jump duplication glitches!

Ancient Blade’s Power In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Using Ancient Blade

Like Gibdo Bones, Ancient Blades are too brittle to be fused with a melee weapon and will break after one hit. However, Ancient Blades can be used as arrowheads due to their unique ability to erase any enemy they hit from existence. Unfortunately, this also means you won’t receive any loot from fallen monsters.

The best time to use an Ancient Blade is when you want to defeat tough enemies that protect special treasure chests. For example, instead of wasting time and powerful weapons to defeat five Lynels in the Floating Coliseum, you can use five Ancient Blades to eliminate the monsters and unlock the chest containing Majora’s Mask.

Do note that an Ancient Blade’s special power does not work against story bosses. It will only deal regular damage and will not erase the boss from existence. While it may seem funny, you cannot one-shot Ganondorf with this tool. (GameLuster’s reporters tried…to no success)

However, this does not mean that this material is useless against bosses. An Ancient Blade has 50 attack power, which is slightly higher than Gibdo Bones and makes it one of the most powerful materials in the game.  Although it is no longer overpowered, it can still deal massive damage, especially if you use it with a multi-shot bow!

That is everything you need to know about obtaining Ancient Blades in Tears of the Kingdom. GameLuster has more useful Zelda guides you may want to check out before leaving. For example, we can tell you how to get the iconic Champion’s Leathers with a high defense stat that has a bonus effect of making Link look very dashing!
