With the holiday season now upon us, Microsoft has revealed the games that will available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers this January, coming in just a little earlier than normal. This is a month where you might want to ensure you pick up and play the latest Games with Gold offerings, which includes one of 2018’s biggest independent games.

The biggest game available for Xbox One owners this January is Celeste, a major hit from 2018 and a Game of the Year nominee at Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards. Players must scale a mountain avoiding the deadly obstacles that lie in their path by utilizing all of protagonist Madeline’s skills, such as a temporary wall grab and an air dash, in order to survive. Celeste runs throughout the entire month, so you have plenty of opportunity to not miss out.

Jan. 16 will bring WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship, a game considered to be one of the best rally games of the current generation with some decent race mechanics. This game will run until Feb. 15.

As for the Xbox 360, the first half of the month will bring system users Lara Croft: Guardian of Light. This game twists the classic formula from the iconic Tomb Raider series, focusing instead on an arcade style non-linear adventure that uses a fixed isometric camera angle as the basis for the adventure. This game was the first in the series to include multiplayer, having players control Lara and another character named Totec. This game will be available from Jan. 1 to 15.

The latter half of the month brings the famous open-world shooter Far Cry 2. Survive in a civil war and take down the Jackal, an arms dealer who has been helping to escalate the ongoing war.

These are all the games available to Games With Gold subscribers for January, but if you haven’t done so yet you can still get some of December’s. These include Q.U.B.E 2, Never Alone, and Xbox game Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.
