To begin this quest, you need to visit Flamechurch Cathedral in the Crestlands and locate an NPC named Elder. This NPC is an old man found outside the Sacred Flame Church. Upon interacting with him, he will tell you that “the path to the cathedral is poorly lit and dangerous for unprepared, crawling as it is with petrifying creatures.” Thus, your tasks will be to procure the Sacred Candles necessary to light up the path to the Cathedral.
The acquisition of the Sacred Candles is relatively straightforward. You can obtain them from the Clerics scattered around town. The first one is located near the entrance of Flamechurch. Interacting with one offers two options: stealing with Throne or buying for 855 Leaves with Partitio. Whichever method you choose, you’ll acquire your first Sacred Candle.
After obtaining the first Sacred Candle, make your way down the stairs in front of you. You’ll find a Save Point. Adjacent to that is the Cleric from whom you can procure the second Sacred Candle. Interact with him to acquire it–you can opt for either Stealing or Purchasing. This Cleric is also available at night, meaning you can Mug him with Osvald or Entreat using Agnea.
The third and final Sacred Candle requires legwork. Your journey begins from the second Cleric, with a straight path towards the peak of this area. Upon reaching the end of your trek, you will find a cave-like door leading to Flamechurch: Cathedral Entrance. Head inside and take the stairway up until you reach the Cathedral Entrance. Once you’ve arrived at your destination, continue straight ahead, you’ll spot a Blue Flame, and right in front of the Blue Flame will be the third Cleric.
You can either Steal it or purchase the candle from him for 855 Leaves. Now that you have gathered all three Sacred Candles, return to the Elder in Flamechurch and hand over these candles. He will appreciate you for your hard work and reward you with 5000 Leaves, a Fortifying Nut, and a Tough Nut. Nuts are extremely useful items that permanently boost your stats.
