Palworld features an expansive open-world map that can take a long time to explore on foot. You definitely want to obtain a mount as soon as possible to make traversal easier. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can unlock this feature.
Palworld Unlocking Mounts Guide
In order to obtain a mount, you must catch a large Pal and craft a saddle for that specific species. You can discover which Pal you can ride by reading their Partner Skill on the Paldeck screen.
Once you catch your Pal, you need to make a saddle by unlocking its recipe on the Technology screen. The first saddle you can obtain is the Rushroar Saddle, which becomes available at Level 6.
Afterward, you can craft the saddle at a Pal Gear Workbench. It is also available at Level 6, and you need Paldium 10 Paldium Fragment, 30 Wood, and 2 Cloth to build this item.
Besides regular ground Pals, you can also ride flying and swimming mounts. I highly recommend using a flying mount since this Pal type can easily traverse the ground and the ocean. After all, you will need to ride a flying or swimming mount to reach the four Sanctuaries at the edges of the map.
These restricted zones contain various rare Pals that cannot be found on the main islands. Unfortunately, they are surrounded by sea, and you will get hunted if the police officers notice your presence in these areas.
For those who are curious, the best ground mount is Necromus. This legendary Pal is at Level 50 and can be found in the Desert biome.
On the other hand, the fastest swimming mount is Azurobe, a Level 17 Alpha Boss. The Azurobe saddle can be crafted at Technology Level 24 and requires 2 Technology Points.
Lastly, the best flying mount is Jetragon, a Level 50 Alpha Boss. You can challenge it at the northwest side of the Volcano, and you can craft the Jetragon’s Missile Launcher at Technology Level 50.
