Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Complete The Pest Control Request

At this stage in his life, there’s very little that Leon S. Kennedy can’t handle. From zombies to parasites and mutants in Resident Evil 4 Remake, Leon can hold his own like no one else. Because he’s so capable, who else but he would complete all those Requests the Merchant leaves around?

On the surface, how hard could a Request to take out a few rats be? To be fair, Leon is in no danger here from these totally normal rodents. No, the danger in this side quest isn’t in dealing with the rats but in finding them. Here’s how to make Leon a professional exterminator by completing the Pest Control Request in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The Pest Control Request is the second one you can find in Resident Evil 4 Remake once you reach the Abandoned Factory and collect your stolen gear. The objective is simple: find and exterminate three rats in the area. All three are hiding among the rubble. Once you’re in their general area, they will run around in a circuit and make squeaking noise, so keep your ears tuned. Once you spot one, you can shoot them if you want, or save your ammo and just slash with your knife until you hit it. Here are their hiding places:

  1. The first rat is at the east end of the long hallway where you (hopefully) stealth-killed the patrolling villager with the rake.
  2. Your second rat is in the big room running around the broken windows that you can vault over.
  3. Finally, the last rat is also in the same room as the prior one, but can be found scuttling around in the southeast corner.

Once all those pests are under control, you can swing by the nearest Merchant stand to claim your hard-earned reward of three Spinels.

What do you think of the new Merchant Requests in Resident Evil 4 Remake? If you’re having trouble with some of the others, such as finding the Blue Medallions or destroying all the Insect Hives, we have guides that can make them a breeze!
