Just because you’re playing as Ashley during Chapter 9 of Resident Evil 4 Remake doesn’t mean you can’t collect some loot! Sure, she can’t use a gun like Leon, but who doesn’t love snagging some valuable treasures? While this Castle is full of them, they are locked up tight.
As you roam around the creepy Library, you will no doubt run into at least one Decorated Keyhole Chest. Since they’re locked, you just know there’s something good inside, and we can confirm that there is! This guide will teach you how you can open them and see what goodies are inside for yourself.
How To Open Decorated Keyhole Chests In Resident Evil 4 Remake
Despite the fact that there’s a better chance than not of a locked object in Resident Evil 4 Remake requiring anything but a key to open it, the Decorated Keyhole Chests actually do open with a traditional key! As you progress through Chapter 9 normally, you will need to pick up the Bunch of Keys item to go forward, but you aren’t told that some of these keys open these chests.
Each of the three Decorated Keyhole Chests has a corresponding key that unlocks it. Here’s which key to use on which chest, plus what it has inside:
- On the far west side of the lower floor of the Library – the same area you’re in when you get the keys – the chest is hidden in an area you need to crouch under a shelf to reach. Use the second key from the left to unlock it and get the Elegant Perfume Bottle.
- Head up to the higher level of the Library and look right behind the Square Lock Box. This chest takes the key on the far right and holds a Sapphire.
- Your last chest is in the Mausoleum after you’ve rung the gong. It’s on the main path and can’t be missed. Unlock it with the key on the far left to get your Emerald.
