Resident Evil 4 Remake: The Verdugo Boss Fight Guide

You will encounter all kinds of monsters during your journey in the remote Spanish village of Resident Evil 4 Remake, such as the Savage Mutt and the Merciless Knight. Many of them are small fries that you can deal with easily using your trusty weapons, but some are a lot more challenging to take down. One great example is the Verdugo which you will face at the end of Chapter 10.

This bio-weapon is arguably one of the hardest bosses in Resident Evil 4 Remake, and many players may have trouble defeating this creature. If you need help beating the Verdugo, you’ve come to the right place because this guide will tell you the best strategy to kill this monster.

How To Beat The Verdugo In Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Verdugo is a special bio-weapon created by combining human and insect DNA, which means it has tough outer shells that are difficult to pierce even with the best guns in your arsenal. There are two ways to win this boss battle: escape and fight.

The first method is perhaps easier since you only need to run around the area until the elevator arrives. It’s not a walk in the park though, because the Verdugo will relentlessly pursue you, and if you dare to get cornered, consider yourself dead.

If you decide to fight this bio-weapon, you will have a harder challenge, but you will also unlock the “Wave Goodbye, Right Hand” trophy after you beat it. The only way to wound this monster is by showering it with liquid nitrogen. You will need to press the red buttons you can find in several places in the boss arena to activate the machines.

Be careful not to get hit by the liquid nitrogen since it can also take a chunk out of Leon’s health. However, if you manage to get the Verdugo under the machine, it’ll freeze the creature temporarily, allowing you to deal damage.

One great tool to bring into this fight is Flash Grenades. You can throw one toward the Verdugo whenever you need more room to move, and it will blind the monster momentarily, giving you time to create some distance.

Resident Evil 4 Remake The Verdugo Attack
The Verdugo can attack with its tail.

The Verdugo will sometimes enter the ventilation system and attack you with its tail, but you can dodge this move by pressing B on Xbox or Circle on PlayStation. Generally, it will launch two to three attacks before jumping down and chasing you again. You can know when it is about to pop out if there is a pause after its second or third attack.

Unfortunately, the closer the elevator gets, the more aggressive the bio-weapon will become. At some point, it will even jump out to attack you after one tail strike. You should be able to defeat it after freezing the creature three times and unloading all of your bullets into its body.
