The Playstation Vita has not had a very good run since launch, I myself would put this down to a lack of quality games and even the console just not being that worth it right now, or at least that is what I would have said since apparently there has been a major upsurge in Playstation Vita sales. This comes down to the release of the latest version of the Playstation Vita which sellers have found almost impossible to keep on store shelves, this means that if you have been trying to get your hands on a Playstation Vita over the past couple of days but your store has been out of stock this would be the reason.
The more interesting part of this is that the sales are all across the world and not just in Japan where we have recently seen sales going up quite dramatically, the US itself is seeing a major amount of these new sales.
All of this was reported by a Sony representitive to Polygon who has said that Sony is working to replenish supply here to ensure continued momentum leading into the holidays. Here is Sony’s full statement on the matter:
“We’re seeing healthy consumer demand for PS Vita globally, particularly in markets like Japan. The U.S. launch of the slimmer and lighter PS Vita has generated strong interest among gamers, and we’re working to replenish supply here to ensure continued momentum leading into the holidays.”
