Spider-Man on PC: Ray Tracing Mode Will Top PS5 Version

Marvel’s Spider-Man on PC will feature a higher-quality ray-tracing mode than the PS5 version. Mike Fitzgerald, the technology director at Insomniac, details the features in a post on the Playstation Blog. Fitzgerald says the studio intends to “make this game a visual stunner on the PC platform” which meant they had to open up “extensive configurability to PC users with varying hardware, as well as introducing some new techniques and tools to push things even further.”

“Ray-traced reflections are available across the game for those with hardware that supports them.” Fitzgerald explains, adding that the reflections vary in “quality levels, one of which is a new, higher-quality ray-traced mode that offers even more city detail when web-swinging and fighting crime in Marvel’s New York.”

The PC port for Marvel’s Spider-Man will further support NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling). This in turn “increases graphics performance using dedicated Tensor Core AI processors found only on GeForce RTX GPUs,” and boosts frame rates “with uncompromised image quality.” For higher levels of image quality, the PC version will further work with NVIDIA DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing), an AI-based anti-aliasing mode for GeForce RTX gamers.

Fitzgerald adds that the PC version will “support a wide range of display ratios,” including “ultrawide 21:9, panoramic 32:9, and NVIDIA Surround multi-monitor setups.” On top of the graphical upgrades, PC players will have the chance to “experience adaptive trigger feedback and amazing haptic response while battling iconic Marvel villains.”

If all of this is not enough, Marvel’s Spider-Man on PC lets players swing through the city of New York on mouse and keyboard and a PS5 DualSense controller – with a wealth of customisation options available. Lastly, Steam Input support offers “innumerable remapping options available, and the game will also offer multiple accessibility features.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man on PC will launch on August 12 – and is available to pre-purchase now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
