Super Mario Items Added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In honor of the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario series, a number of items themed around Mario and his friends will be added to island life simulator Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These items, which were announced during last night’s Nintendo Direct event, will be joining the game’s extensive catalog of furniture, clothing and decorative goods.

Players will be able to dress their characters as Mario, Luigi, Wario and Princess Peach using signature items such as hats, mustaches, overalls, and, of course, Peach’s gorgeous dress and crown.

Plus, a number of environmental items let you turn your island into a tropical replica of the Mushroom Kingdom. You can recreate your favorite classic Super Mario Bros. levels or design brand new ones of your own with normal and question blocks, mushrooms, coins, shells, Thwomps, and both Mario- and Bowser-themed victory flags. Best of all, you can place up to two functioning Warp Pipes on your island, allowing you to quickly move between two spots. Watch out, Dodo Airlines! You might have some competition when it comes to fast travel!

The new items will be available to purchase at Nook’s Cranny beginning on March 1st (although the update to add them will itself be launched on February 25th.) The Nintendo Direct trailer shows that these items will primarily cost between 500 and 1500 Bells, but a few will be slightly more expensive. In particular, Princess Peach’s crown will set villagers back a whopping 12,000 Bells!

More information will be posted via the official Animal Crossing: New Horizons Twitter account as the event draws closer.

How do you plan to make use of the new Super Mario-themed items? Will you be cosplaying as Luigi, or perhaps Wario? What sort of Mario-like level will you build? Let us know!
