The first photo from the set of The Last Of Us TV adaptation has been revealed, featuring Pedro Pascal (Joel), Gabriel Luna (Tommy), Nico Parker as Joel’s daughter, Sarah, pilot director Kantemir Balagov, and Senia Sereda, a Russian cinematographer who’d previously worked on Balagov’s World War II film Beanpole.
Snapped by Gabriel Luna and shared on his Instagram, the Matador actor added the caption, “Already love these folks” along with the hashtags “#MillerTime”, a reference to Joel and Sarah’s family surname, and “#thelastofus”.
From this photo alone, it’s difficult to say if filming has already begun or if the actors are rehearsing, but regardless, there’s a strong possibility their first shoot will involve Sarah’s death, an iconic, yet devastating twist within the opening minutes of the game. Plus, Pascal does bear an uncanny resemblance to his video game counterpart.

These are exciting times as the TV adaptation is set to begin filming on July 5 in Calgary, Canada. The production of Naughty Dog’s acclaimed post-pandemic title is expected to wrap as late as June 8, 2022. As a result, this could likely push the release date back as far as 2023.
Gabriel Luna is best known for his work on Matador, Agents of Shield, and most recently, Terminator: Dark Fate, while both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey both previously starred in Game Of Thrones. Rising star Nico Parker is set to appear in an upcoming science-fiction thriller, Reminiscence.
Craig Mazin, the creator of Chernobyl, is working alongside the game’s creator and director, Neil Druckmann, to bring the adaptation to life. Meanwhile, back in May, Sony released the first glimpse of Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming Uncharted adaptation – all two seconds of it. The two actors can be seen during a small clip focusing on individual employees at Sony.
