The Latest Outbreak Trailer Promises Zombie Carnage

An exclusive trailer for the upcoming Outbreak mode has been revealed, with only three days to go until the new content update drops for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Judging by the explosive footage from the trailer, the new mode promises opportunities to portal-hop between regions throughout the Ural Mountains and rain hellfire down on scores of the undead in a zombies experience “like you’ve never seen before.”

According to a new Call Of Duty blog post, Outbreak will “task squads of up to four Operators with aiding Requiem in their biggest undertaking yet: Operation Threshold.”

Outbreak is set across multiple regions in the Ural Mountains of Russia, encouraging players to explore and take risks, while teamwork and coordination are advised to complete the missions and claim the spoils within this new world of flesh eaters.

Outbreak offers new Aetherium Crystal types, Refined and Flawless. These’ll assist players in upgrading weapon classes, field upgrades, perks, tiers, and ammo mods. Beyond this, the developers have further outlined what makes Outbreak so unique from previous zombie modes.

“Unlike any other Zombies experience thus far, there are no set paths to and from the objective.” the developers say. This means that players “can take as much time as they wish to explore the area, searching for rewards either in loot chests, encountering various random events, or activating a Trial Computer.”

A rolling update for Black Ops Cold War is due tomorrow, (February 23) between 9PM and 11PM PT, while Warzone will receive an update the day after (February 24), between 9PM and 11PM PT.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2 launches on February 25.

Elsewhere in the franchise, a leaker recently suggested that Call Of Duty 2021 would take place in the past, echoing 2017’s Call Of Duty: WWII from Sledgehammer Games, who were linked with developing this year’s title.
