Since Sony revealed The Order: 1886 with a Trailer at E3 2013, details regarding the game have been vague at best. Fantasy elements and a steampunk Neo-London setting were more or less all that could be gleamed from the E3 Reveal Trailer, but Sony has whetted our appetites futher for the game with a new trailer. This one offers further insights into the lore of the game, as well as the enemies that players will be facing.
From the New Trailer
For centuries, an order of knights have stood against an inhuman foe that had sought to extinguish mankind. Now, in the year 1886, armed with new weapons & technology, these operatives must face this ancient enemy on the streets of London where rebellion and anarchy threaten an already unstable peace.
The Order: 1886™ introduces players to a unique vision of Victorian-Era London. As a member of an elite order, join a centuries-old war that will determine the course of history forever.
The game looks, frankly, beautiful, making full use of the new hardware of the PS4 to deliver a game that claims to have no disconnect between cutscenes and gameplay. Thats a big claim to make, but a recent press event has given some lucky people a look at a portion of the Gameplay, as well as a chance to chat with Ru Weerasurira, The Order’s Creative Director.
Weerasuriya offered further context to the lore of the game, stating that the main conflict consists of three groups: The Order, monstrous Halfbreeds and The Rebellion, who are sick of being oppressed by The Order and want to fight for themselves.
All in all, the game is shaping up to be something truly special, and hopefully Ready at Dawn Studios have a hit on their hands with this ambitious project. Definitely something to keep your eye on.
