CD Projekt RED co-founder Marcin Iwinski has stated that he would like to see free DLC to become the norm in the gaming industry.
“I would really like to see such initiatives become an industry standard rather than an exception to the general rule, and I hope that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has set a good example.”
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a huge game with 16 packages of DLC that are ALL available for free on the PlayStation Store. Not only have these add-ons made players happy, they have also done their part in marketing by keeping the game in the news for months after launch.
In my opinion, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a brilliant game; It is a complete release (Which is sadly quite rare these days), and the free DLC has been enough to keep the fan base happy and entertained. I hope that the rest of the industry follows the example that CD Projekt RED has given them.
