Three Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Colors Stop Production

One of the greatest “joys,” pun fully intended, of owning a Nintendo Switch is the veritable rainbow of Joy-Con colors available for you to choose from. From delicate pink to royal purple, glittering gold to refreshing green, there’s just so many options out there. You can even mix and match colors to create a combination that speaks to your identity as a gamer.

But now, three of those colors will shortly be disappearing from our shelves. Possibly as a response to increasing shortages of Switch hardware combined with spiking demands for the console, Nintendo has decided to stop production of Grey, Red, and Neon Yellow Joy-Cons.

Currently, on the Japanese site for purchasing Switch accessories (found here), the three colors are listed as “生産終了” or “Seisan shuuryou,” which translates to “Production ended.”

For now, the red, yellow, and grey Joy-Cons are still available for purchase. However, they will likely cease to be listed once the existing stock has been sold, as no more will be produced. Make sure to grab one of these colors ASAP if you’d like to add them to your collection before they disappear forever.

Luckily, plenty of other Joy-Con colors are still listed as in production on Nintendo’s Japanese site. These include Neon Pink, Neon Purple, Neon Orange, Neon Green, and both the regular and neon versions of Blue. Also, fans of the color red will be able to snag the Neon Red joysticks even after the Red goes out of stock permanently. Finally, the MyNintendo store features listings for even more colors, including a pastel set inspired by Animal Crossing and a golden yellow set paying tribute to Pokemon’s iconic mascot character Pikachu.

Are you sad to see these Joy-Con colors go? Will you be grabbing any before they disappear? What other colors do you hope to see released in the future? Let us know!
