Will Call of Duty Drop on Xbox Game Pass If The Activision Deal Closes?

The chief of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has outlined whether Call of Duty and other titles under the Activision Blizzard banner would arrive on the Xbox Game Pass on day one, should Microsoft’s acquisition deal with Activision get the green light. At this stage, nothing has been set in stone – and Spencer did not provide confirmation for the Call of Duty community.

During an interview with IGN, Spencer discussed the decision to sell cloud streaming rights to Ubisoft and how it would affect Call of Duty players on the Xbox Game Pass after the deal concludes. The Xbox chief did not refer to Call of Duty directly in his answer, and instead provided an overview of the work ahead of the company.

“I want to make sure people know that there’s work to actually move games to Game Pass,” Spencer told IGN. “So, for the people who think the deal is going to close and then everything’s available, that’s not true. And it hasn’t been true in other acquisitions that we’ve done.”

“There’s work for us to go do, just mechanical work for us to go do. So, it’ll take us time, definitely time to get the games in the portfolio,” Spencer added.

Some of the highlights from Gamescom 2023 included Mortal Kombat 1Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom LibertyAssassin’s Creed MirageTekken 8Sonic Superstars, and a trailer for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon.

The first gameplay footage from Modern Warfare III debuted during Opening Night Live, featuring the return of a popular location known to Warzone players who joined the battle-royale in 2020.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will launch on Friday, November 10, 2023 across the PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Series consoles, and PC.
