Yooka-Laylee Remaster Seemingly Teases Nintendo Switch 2 Release

The remaster of Playtonic’s 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee, playfully titled Yooka-Replaylee, has seemingly teased its release on the untitled successor to the Nintendo Switch system. In their tweet confirming a PC and current generation console release, they also state the game is set to release on “… Nintendo”, with a suspicious eyes emoji placed after it.

The eyes are certainly a tease, as even in the Yooka-Replaylee console trailer seen below, the Nintendo Switch logo is replaced with the generic Nintendo logo, with a pair of animated eyes placed on top. Given that Yooka-Replaylee is releasing on current generation hardware with the PS5 and Xbox Series line of consoles, it’s not surprising we could see it on the Nintendo Switch 2 – but it is refreshing to see the system being teased, and a game being confirmed for it!

Yooka-Replaylee joins the rare group of games being teased for the Switch 2, along with My Time at Evershine and The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4: Thoughts Delivered. We’re sure to get more and more teases of Switch 2 games the closer we get to an official announcement from Nintendo, but given their track record of silence, we won’t be holding our breath any time soon.

Outside of the Switch 2 speculation, Yooka-Replaylee is looking great! The game aims to “enhance” the original Yooka-Laylee experience, with remixed challenges, a new orchestral soundtrack, map system, currency and customization options. Yooka-Replaylee is available to wishlist now on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, with no confirmed release date.
