While exploring the scary and unknown Depths, you will eventually encounter a massive lumbering monster that roams the underground. This terrifying creature is called Frox, and it is basically a murderous giant frog that wants to swallow you whole. Although some players may get scared and run away, there’s a great strategy you can use to beat this world boss easily. Without further ado, here’s a guide on how to defeat Frox in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom!
Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Frox Boss Fight Guide
The Frox has two main attacks: body slam and inhalation. The first move can be dodged by sprinting away, but the second one is a bit more tricky. If you’re already in its range, running away will be impossible.
If this occurs, you must shoot a Bomb Flower into its open maw, and the flower will detonate inside the monster, staggering it. Once the beast is down, you must climb onto its back and break several rocks that grow on its skin using a greatsword or a hammer.
Another way to stun the Frox is by shooting its eye. I found that fusing a Dazzle Fruit to your arrow can work to blind the boss temporarily. You can also use Keese Eyes to create Homing Arrows that will automatically target the boss’ weak spot.
You will need to destroy all of the rocks on the Frox’s back to defeat it. However, it is unlikely that you can do it in one go. If you’re still on top of the boss when it returns to consciousness, it will throw you into the air.
This is the perfect chance for you to enter the slow-motion aim mode. Just pull out your bow by holding the ZR button and aim for the boss’ eye. If you do this correctly, you can keep the Frox stunned without receiving any damage.

You can find many Frox roaming in numerous spots in the Depths. They’re quite common and can be a good source of Zonaite ores. Here’s a screenshot from Map Genie to show all Frox locations in Tears of the Kingdom:
I personally like to fight the Frox near the Hyrule Field Chasm, and you can actually find three of them nearby. The first is on the southeast side of the Gadoshi Lightroot, the second is located northwest of the Stakijat Lightroot, and the last can be found south of the Nihcayam Lightroot.
