Celebrating 10 Years of PlayStation Plus

On June 29, 2010, Sony first launched its premium PlayStation Plus subscription service via the online PlayStation Network. Over the past ten years, PlayStation Plus has provided its subscribers with unique benefits including free games, early access to major titles, and more.

Since the introduction of monthly titles in 2012, over 1,000 games have been offered via PlayStation Plus. To commemorate this, three free games will be given away to subscribers during the month of July. A blog post announced these titles as basketball simulator NBA 2K20, fast-paced action-adventure Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and interactive mystery thriller Erica.

These games can be grabbed for free between July 7 and August 3, so make sure to snag them while you can.

In addition, a new PlayStation 4 theme will be available to celebrate this exciting anniversary. Plus (pun fully intended!), a free online multiplayer weekend beginning on July 4 has been announced. More information regarding this will be released as the start date draws closer.

Currently, PlayStation Plus remains a highly successful service, with over 40 million active users as of March 30, 2020. Most popular monthly games released via Plus include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Shadow of the Colossus, and Destiny 2, while the most popular online multiplayer games are Grand Theft Auto V, Rainbow Six Siege, and multiple Call of Duty titles including both Black Ops III and Black Ops IV.

Congratulations to Sony and PlayStation Plus for ten years of delivering great games to players all around the world. Here’s hoping that PlayStation Plus will be around for at least another ten years in the future!

PlayStation Plus subscriptions are available for $9.99 for 1 month, $24.99 for 3 months, and $59.99 for an entire year. Two free games are provided every month. You can also redeem a two-week free trial to see if PlayStation Plus is right for you.

What are your favorite games you’ve gotten through PlayStation Plus? Let us know!
