Famitsu: Pikmin 4 Crosses 800K, Armored Core Slips

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers September 4 – 10, as Pikmin 4 continues its domination at the top of the chart. After selling an additional 31,000 units this week, Pikmin 4 has crossed the 800,000 sales mark on the charts, a massive success for Nintendo and the Pikmin franchise.

Elsewhere on the chart, there were two new debuts with romance visual novel The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Promises Made with Her managing to crack second place with over 10,000 sales, and gothic drama story Shuuen no Virche – EpiC: Lycoris taking fourth place with more than 8,000 units sold. The rest of the chart consists of evergreen Switch titles, as well as Armored Core VI holding on to the top ten with both its PS5 and PS4 releases in their third week, although it is starting to slip.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Starfield was unable to even make the top 10 on the charts in Japan. This could be due to the limited audience for Xbox games in Japan, as well as the game being available on Game Pass for the few in Japan who do play Xbox. It’s also notable that Xbox sales actually fell from last week, suggesting perhaps limited interest in the title outside of those already owning the system.

Armored Core VI
Combined PS4 and PS5 Armored Core VI sales on the Famitsu chart have now crossed 200,000.
