Fortnite Halloween Event Features New Ghostbusters Gear

As Halloween approaches, it’s time for the annual oh-so-spooky Fortnitemares event in the wildly popular multiplayer battle royale game. The event started October 24 and runs until November 3.

This year, Halloween-themed gameplay changes allow defeated players to return to the battlefield as ghosts (called Shadows in-game) and get their revenge on the still-living fighters who made them into ghosts in the first place. You can even earn a special battle victory by being the last member of the undead standing!

Of course, with Halloween comes spooky new gear, accessories and weapons which players can purchase using the in-game currency V-Bucks. This year’s crossover brings a beloved seasonal film franchise to Fortnite: none other than Ghostbusters.

Recently announced on Twitter, the Ghostbusters Set includes classic beige jumpsuit skins for both male and female characters, plus a variety of skins highlighting specific roles within the Ghostbusters crew. Female characters can show their stuff as an Aura Analyzer or Curse Buster, while males can step into the role of an Ecto Expert and Containment Specialist. Individual outfits and skins cost between 400 and 800 V-Bucks apiece, while the male and female bundles are both currently available for a discounted 2,000 V-Bucks each.

In addition to the skins, players can grab a Proton Pack or Ghost Trap Back Bling (400 V-Bucks each), an Ecto-Glider vehicle (1,200 V-Bucks) and a Proton Pickaxe tool (800 V-Bucks). These items will only be available in the shop for a limited time, so interested players will have to act fast.

In addition to the Fortnitemares 2020 event and Ghostbusters-themed items, the team behind the popular game recently released a patch which decreases Fortnite’s file size on PC, making the battle royale accessible to even more players than ever before.

Fortnite players, will you be purchasing any of the Halloween gear and skins this year? Let us know!
