Billed as “the ultimate Halo experience,” the Master Chief Collection chronicles the entirety of the legendary soldier’s journey. It contains all six Master Chief-focused Halo titles, beginning with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and ending with Halo 4.
Following its successful debut on Xbox One consoles, the collection is being released for PC piece by piece throughout 2019 and 2020. The next Collection title to drop will be Halo 2: Anniversary, which will come to PC on May 12.

Similar to Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary is a complete remastering of the second game’s iconic campaign. It features a complete visual upgrade, as well as two new cutscenes that tie into Halo 5: Guardians. Six of the original’s 24 maps also received a makeover, two each in the small, medium, and broad categories. Additionally, Anniversary boasts a re-recorded soundtrack featuring the San Francisco Symphony.
Halo 2 tells the story of Master Chief’s return to Earth to combat the forces of the Covenant. The “Terminals” feature, which was added in Anniversary, elaborates on the relationships between the various races of the Covenant to provide a deeper understanding of Halo universe lore.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available for Windows 10 and Steam. It is also currently featured as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC. Game Pass, which costs only $4.99/month, also includes access to an extensive library of over 100 Xbox titles, with more added each month. An Ultimate version, which provides access to both PC and Console versions of Xbox Game Pass, is also available.
Three more titles – Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4- will be added to the PC version of the Master Chief Collection in the future. Currently, Xbox plans to debut all three titles at some point during 2020.
