Laura Bailey Wants To Play Abby In The Last Of Us Part III

Some spoilers ahead for The Last Of Us Part II.

Laura Bailey has expressed interest in reprising her role as Abby should The Last Of Us Part III become a reality. In an interview with Comic Book Movie, the acclaimed voice actress, known for her roles in Marvel’s Spider-Man and the Uncharted franchise, said she “would definitely go back to [Abby].”

“I know there was a lot of drama and response to her character, but it was one of the most influential roles I’ve had in my life,” Bailey admitted. She added that she “would 100% go back to play more Abby if the opportunity came up. The series looks amazing and I cannot wait to see more of it.”

Abby Anderson, a former Firefly and soldier with the Washington Liberation Front, served as one of the two playable protagonists in The Last Of Us Part II. Her father, Jerry Anderson, was the surgeon tasked with developing a vaccine at the Salt Lake City Hospital in Utah. Following her father’s demise at the hands of Joel—at the end of the first game, as the latter storms the hospital to save Ellie— Abby exacts revenge against Joel for the murder. She later embarks on a journey with Lev, a former member of the Seraphite Cult who was ousted for his gender transition.

Joel’s death in the game was highly controversial upon release, with series creator Neil Druckmann weighing in on why Abby used a golf club to kill Joel in the sequel. The inspiration followed an accident on a golf range that left Druckmann scarred for life.

The Last Of Us Part II is available on the PS4 following its release on June 19, 2020. For more The Last Of Us content, including our review for The Last Of Us Part I, stay tuned with GameLuster.
