Layton’s Mystery Journey – Deluxe Edition Gets Western Release Date on November 8

Last year, Level-5 announced and released Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy – Deluxe Edition for the Switch in Japan, offering an enhanced version of the original 3DS and Mobile title. The question that has been burning for some time is when the west would finally see the title arrive on the Switch. More than a year later we finally have an answer; western Switch owners will finally get the opportunity to play this game on November 8.

This marks the first Professor Layton title to arrive on the Switch, albeit without the puzzling professor as the main star. This game instead follows the exploits of Katrielle Layton, daughter of Professor Layton, as she solves the mysteries surrounding some of London’s elite. Katrielle is aided by a young student named Ernest Greeves acting as her assistant, as well as Sherl a talking dog.

The game will be playable with buttons, the touch screen, or motion controls. The Switch version will also play host to new content and updated gameplay features that were not present on the 3DS. Here’s a quick rundown of the new additions from Nintendo’s website:

  • New Puzzles: This Deluxe Edition includes more than 40 brand-new puzzles and other puzzles modified from the Nintendo 3DS version, to extend the fun and make the game even more family-friendly.
  • Improved Layout and Enhanced Graphics: Key information for each puzzle is now viewable on one screen, and all graphics have received an HD overhaul.
  • Unlocked DLC: Content previously released as paid DLC, including the ‘Daddy’s Girl’ and ‘Luke Lookalike’ outfits, is unlocked from the very beginning.
  • New Outfits: More than 50 new outfits have been added, all of which can be obtained by playing the game.
