10 Announcements You Might Have Missed From The 6/21 Nintendo Direct

The June 21st Nintendo Direct was full of exciting announcements, from a deeper look at Pikmin 4’s gameplay to the reveal of a Super Mario RPG remake and brand-new title Super Mario Wonder. With so much revealed in just 40 minutes, there are a few announcements you might have missed while watching the Nintendo Direct. Luckily, GameLuster’s got you covered! Here are just a few Nintendo Direct announcements that may have gotten overlooked, but are still more than worthy of getting hyped about!

Sonic Superstars Races Onto The Nintendo Switch


Mario isn’t the only iconic character getting a 2D side-scroller in 2023 – none other than the Blue Blur himself is getting in on the action too! Sonic Superstars is a brand-new adventure that lets players choose between Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy as they explore twelve all-new, secret-filled zones and expose Dr. Eggman’s latest plot. Plus, for the first time in Sonic history, four player local co-op will be available! Sonic Superstars launches for the Nintendo Switch in Fall 2023.

New Racers Join The Fun In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe


The Wave 5 Booster Course DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is planned to release sometime this summer for the Nintendo Switch. The pack will contain one new course, Squeaky Clean Sprint, in which characters will race through a cluttered bathroom! In addition, three new racers from previous Mario Kart titles will be added to the game. These include Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Kamek, each with their own unique abilities they bring to the racetrack! Nintendo Switch Online Plus and Expansion Pass members will be able to receive this DLC at no additional charge.

Become A Monster Master In Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince


The next entry in the Dragon Quest Monsters sub-series will take a sinister twist as the titular Dark Prince works to become a master of monsters to fulfill his singular goal: revenge. Tame, fuse, and battle with monsters from throughout the Dragon Quest series while also exploring a vast world and learning more about the Dark Prince’s story. Plus, the first-look trailer even hinted that characters from other Dragon Quest games might make an appearance, with a brief glimpse of someone who looks like the Dragon Quest IV hero! This game launches on December 1st.

Join The Revolution In Persona 5 Tactica


The Phantom Thieves return in a brand-new tactical adventure! In Persona 5 Tactica, Joker and his crew find themselves in a new, strange world and must team up with the mysterious revolutionary Erina. But who is Erina, and what are her true goals? With gameplay inspired by the previous titles Persona Q and Persona Q2, players will be able to attack with both weapons and Personas, knock out enemies for a One More, or team up with allies for Triple Threat All-Out Attacks. Plus, the Persona fusion system returns, allowing players to create tons of powerful Personas! Persona 5 Tactica comes to the Nintendo Switch on November 17, 2023.

Penny’s Big Breakaway Swings Onto Switch In 2024


The debut title from developer Evening Star Games, Penny’s Big Breakaway is a kinetic 3D platformer starring a plucky performer attempting to get through the most chaotic audition of her life! When she accidentally provokes the wrath of Emperor Eddy and his penguin horde, Penny must team up with her newly sidekick sentient Yo-Yo to escape. Explore the colorful world of Macaroon, power up the ever-hungry Yo-Yo with snacks, and solve the mystery behind the Cosmic String. Plus, try out your speedrunning skills in a Time Attack mode that can unlock new items, secret stages, and more!

Experience Iconic Metal Gear Titles In This Ultimate Collection


The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1, coming to Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2023, is an absolute must-buy for fans of the iconic series. The bundle includes the first three Solid games – Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty, and Snake Eater – as well as the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. If those weren’t enough, the bundle ALSO features the NES versions of Metal Gear and Snake’s Revenge as well as two digital graphic novels, strategy guides, character and screenshot books, a digital soundtrack, and more! Move To The Beat With Wario Ware Move It


Use your entire body to get into the groove with Wario War Move It, the latest in the Wario Ware series! This title is filled with tons of chaotic new micro-games that will challenge you to dance, shimmy, punch, race, wave, and more. You can play with a friend in local co-op or with up to three other players in Party Mode. Move It will feature over 200 new microgames focusing on moving the entire body in a variety of hilarious ways. It will even feature microgames based on classic titles like Mario and Pikmin! Wario Ware Move It is currently scheduled to launch on November 3, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.

Smash Hit Vampire Survivors Arrives On The Nintendo Switch


Indie game Vampire Survivors was one of the sleeper hits of 2022, and for good reason – it’s devilishly addictive! In this Castlevania-inspired game, all you have to do is choose a character and survive for 30 minutes. But it’s not going to be that easy – hordes of monsters are constantly coming your way, and they get stronger and stronger as time goes on! Find treasure, defeat enemies, strengthen your character and do everything you can to survive. The Nintendo Switch version of Vampire Survivors will launch on August 17, 2023 and will feature a local co-op mode that supports up to four players.

Entire Batman Arkham Trilogy Available For Switch


For the first time, the entire Batman Arkham trilogy, produced by Warner Bros., DC Comics, and Rocksteady Games, is coming to the Nintendo Switch in a single bundle. The bundle includes Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight, as well as all DLC previously released for all three games. These open-world games were critically acclaimed for their deep storytelling and ability to bring to life the darkness lurking within Gotham City. The Batman Arkham bundle is coming to the Nintendo Switch in Fall 2023, with a specific release date not yet announced.

Explore A World Without Words In Silent Hope


When a king steals the words of an entire world, all its residents suddenly find themselves falling silent. Guided by the kingdom’s Princess, the only person left who still has a voice, seven wordless warriors must band together to descend into the Abyss, find the king, and restore the stolen words. Silent Hope is an all-new action RPG with a stunning anime-inspired art style. It features an ever-changing dungeon, powerful bosses, and multiple heroes wielding a variety of weapons including swords, bows, magic, and more. Silent Hope launches for the Nintendo Switch on October 3, 2023.

These are just a couple of the TONS of announcements that were shared during the most recent Nintendo Direct event. A few that we didn’t cover here – but we are still super hyped for! – include the fast-placed multiplayer car fixing game Manic Mechanics, the free-to-play fantasy title Palia, the rhythm-based battle royale Pretty Coo Musical Party, the Saturday morning cartoon-inspired MythForce, and more! Even though Nintendo has already had an amazing year with titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there’s still SO MUCH coming down the track for the rest of 2023 and into 2024!
